Search Engine Ranking Tactics |
| Top ranking in search engines involves a
great deal more than “meta tags” or even “search
engine optimization.” |
Many Web developers
will say that the search engine placement has been taken
care of because they have “done meta tags and
everything.” But meta tags are just the top of
the tip of the iceberg and in the absence of other
strategies will not get your Web site very far in search
engine placement.
In
fact, writing meta tags does not even qualify as search
engine optimization. There are many more factors that
create search engine friendly Web pages. But there is even
more to bringing visitors through search engines than “search
engine optimization.”
Did you know, for
example, that some search engines give top ranking to
sites that are found in certain directories?
Once Rapport Online
has optimized your Web site for the search engine spiders,
we manually list the site with all of the top search
engines and directories.
We do not stop there, however.
For extremely
competitive terms, “music CD” comes to mind, or to
jump start your search engine placement, take advantage of
some of the pay for placement search engine options
that allow you to bid for your place on the results of a
search.
This is also effective for times that you can’t
wait for the spiders to pick up your pages or as a means
of online advertising.
Finally, we publicize
your site to as many targeted sites as we can, not only
for traffic, but to generate the link popularity
that many search engines use to evaluate the relevance of
your site. Don’t fall for offers to publicize your site
to hundreds/thousands of search engines for $59.95 (or
whatever). They may get links to your site, but they won’t
bring traffic and the links they produce won’t count
with the search engines. Search engines are snobs and they
make distinctions between referrers.
